A Workington man will join his brother in prison after he was jailed for more than three years for a spate of burglaries.

Billy Joe Blacklock, 24, of no fixed address, received a three year and five months prison sentence for burglary, theft, and violent behaviour in a police station.

Billy carried out a strong of burglaries in Seaton at the start of lockdown with his brother Ross Blacklock.

Twenty-year-old Ross was jailed last week.

Overnight on March 21 into the early hours of March 22, the brothers raided four properties, taking in the region of £1,900 worth of property from the homes, with the haul including items such as laptops, handbags and mobile phones.

The first victim was a man in his 70s who was self-isolating due to coronavirus, while the second and third homes had children sleeping upstairs when the brothers targeted the homes.

On March 22, both brothers were arrested and subsequently charged, with some of the stolen property being recovered by officers.

Detective Sergeant Tom Windridge said: “I am happy with these sentences and I would like to thank the residents of Seaton for their assistance in the investigation.

“This sentencing should send a strong message to anyone considering getting involved in such crime that they could end up facing time in prison.

“We will not tolerate burglars targeting properties as people should be able to feel safe in their own homes.”
