Waltham Abbey Town Council has been liaising with police officers following two knifepoint robberies at the Town Mead recreation ground in recent days.
Town clerk Jodie Law said: "The town council shares the concerns of local residents and has approached the police to identify how we can work together to prevent these incidents from escalating."
She added: "There has been much talk of Parkguard being used and whilst this is a measure that can be considered, they do not constantly patrol the park and are rarely 'in the right place' when such incidents happen."
The town council is urging residents to "have patience" while the council works with the relevant bodies to discuss and action measures to target the problem.
The town council has stressed that much of the Town Mead area is covered by CCTV cameras with recordings available for police use.
Footage is being made available to police officers to help with their investigations into the incidents.
