Anderton Hall farm auction 1949
This photograph, taken in 1949, marks a sad day in the life of the Horwich Co-operative Society.
The society ran its own farm at Anderton Hall supplying fresh produce but it had run into cash problems forcing the sale of all the farm equipment including tractors and stock to pay off the debts.
The auction attracted buyers from all over Bolton and beyond.
