WORKMEN had a narrow escape after scaffolding came crashing down in 1990.
Renovation work was being carried out on homes on Stephen Street in Mill Hill, Blackburn, when a large section of the scaffolding which virtually ran the length of the street collapsed.
Scaffolding poles clattered into the street scattering bricks and planks as they fell, completely blocking the road.
An investigation was launched into what had caused the collapse but thankfully no-one was injured.
