A man has been given a community order for handling stolen goods.

Simon Robert Highmore, 30, admitted the charge of dishonestly undertaking or assisting in the retention, removal, disposal or realisation of stolen goods.

He appeared before Carlisle’s magistrates’ court on Thursday on the single charge.

The goods in question were an EE router and black Samsung tablet, with a total value of £560.

Highmore, of Newtown Road in Carlisle, was given a community order.

The order subjects him to a four-week curfew between the hours of 8pm and 6am daily.

Highmore was also ordered to pay a £95 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He will pay the bill at a rate of £20 per month.
