Oldham Athletic have confirmed Harry Kewell’s appointment as their new manager.
The former Leeds and Liverpool man replaces Dino Maamria who was sacked on Friday.
Kewell has signed a one-year deal with the option to extend.
The 41-year-old Australian’s last job at Notts County ended in November 2018 just 10 weeks and 14 games into a three-year contract.
Kewell had moved to Meadow Lane after a season in charge of Crawley.
He is the sixth permanent appointment by Latics owner Abdallah Lemsagam in two-and-a-half years in charge at Boundary Park.
Kewell arrives at Boundary Park with just six players under contract and six weeks to go until the new League Two season.
The Australian said: “I'm excited about the project and don't get me wrong it's going to take time. Because the one thing I think this club does need is stability and if we can get that, then we can start to grow things.
"We've got to get back to the basics and we're having a 'clean slate' here now and I think the fans, myself, the owner, everybody wants to start seeing this club progress because we all believe that's there's a big potential."
