A CENTURY opening stand helped Golborne to victory over Tonge in the Anthony Axford Bolton Cricket League Association division.

Tonge batted first and totalled 148 courtesy of 36 from Shez Arif, 25 from Danny Holt and 32 off 23 deliveries from Craig Naylor.

Of the Golborne bowlers Jake Waterworth did most damage with 5-36.

This score was overtaken for the loss of three wickets, with the run chase assisted by the strong start from Ciaran Vesey (62) and Joe Smith (45).

The Bolton News:

Arslan Javid, Azharuddin Patel and Kanwar Singh all made 30 or more in Little Hulton’s 149-9, with Amal Dalugoda taking 4-41 for Astley Bridge.

They were then in trouble at 42-4 in reply, but a century partnership between professional Tilaksha Malshan (89) and David Cryer (23) steered them to victory.

Adlington recorded 135 against Blackrod with Tom Shovelton top scoring with 46 and Kamran Hussain and Simon Trim making 21 apiece.

There were two wickets for Esham Ratnaweera, Bradley Wright and Charlie Fletcher.

Blackrod responded with 140-6, Fletcher rounding off a useful all-round performance with 25 runs before Zak Burton and Mark Glover (41) steered their team home with a half century partnership.

There were two wickets for Sajawal Khan, Kamran Hussain and Naveed Khwaja.

Ayaz Hanif made 29 for Darcy Lever, and Scott Burns and Joe Gavin were involved in an eighth-wicket partnership of 32 out of a total of 118 against Eagley.

Mohammad Baig took 5-39 and Harvey Signe 3-29.

Eagley began well with Craig Massey scoring 26 as they progressed to 72-2.

A middle order-collapse was averted by Jack Wainman who finished 38 not out as Eagley won by five wickets. Hanif and Dominic Gavin both took two wickets.

Horwich recorded a comfortable victory against neighbours Blackrod in the second round of Dixon Air Conditioning T20 fixtures.

Tom Billington (32) and Jack Berry (38) were the leading contributors to the former’s 134-7 batting first.

Dean Morris recorded the best bowling performance with 3-11 as Blackrod were dismissed for 73 in reply.

Danny Vincent made 44 in Lostock’s 106 against Westhoughton.

The reply was seemingly going to plan at 104-5, but Westhoughton lost three quick wickets before holding their nerve for a two-wicket victory.

Tonge’s 124-4 was largely thanks to 38 from Alex Rodzoch and 31 from Marcus Dawson.

Farnworth began badly in reply, losing both openers with just three runs on the board.

However a 90-run partnership between Kian Rogerson (61 not out) and Neil Hyde (35) appeared to have put them in control.

Three wickets then fell for four runs though, the momentum never regained as Farnworth fell 10 runs short, Connor Lord the pick of the bowlers with 3-16.

Azan Baig was top scorer with 42 in Kearsley’s 95 all out, Marcus Haslam taking 3-5 for Heaton.

Heaton then recorded a 10-wicket victory in the 15th over with Matthew Ball making 51 and Saliq Rasheed 26.

Arslan Javad’s 34 helped Little Hulton to 130-7 against Farnworth Social Circle but the game was to have a remarkable finish.

There are a number of ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in a game of cricket, and one of these is to bowl a no-ball when eight runs are required for victory off the last ball of the match.

Joe Capstick, who hit 66 not out for FSC, took advantage to give his side an unlikely victory.

As the evenings are now drawing in, T20 matches are moving to Sunday afternoons, with two matches being played at one venue in some cases.
