A third party company is in negotiations to take over the threatened Sealy UK's Aspatria plant.
The site had been earmarked for closure in May, with more than 260 jobs set to be lost.
But now the Silent Night Group has written to its employees to inform them that a consultation into the proposed closure would be extended until August 28, while negotiations continue.
The third party company has not yet been named.
