A BIKER has tragically died after a crash with a Mercedes.
Police were called out to the crash between the white Yamaha motorbike and grey Mercedes in Great Wakering last night at 6.20pm.
The crash happened on Southend Road near to Barling Road, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, the biker, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made and the driver of the Mercedes is assisting with police enquiries.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area as the road was closed into the early hours of this morning.
Anyone with information, or who may have dash cam footage of either vehicle before the incident, is urged to submit information to the Serious Collision Investigation Unit through by calling 101.
The incident number to quote is 1040 of July 15.
A police spokesman said: "We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a silver car, believed to be a Corsa or an Astra, who was driving in front of the Mercedes shortly before the collision.
"This driver could be a key witness, so we would urge them to get in touch."
