Slough's libraries are taking the first steps towards reopening - with a new 'click and collect' service.

But there will be no browsing or using public computers for the time being.

Between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday libraries at the Curve in Slough, Britwell, Cippenham and Langley will be allowing customers to come in and collect pre-ordered books.

To order you can click on the link https://slough.spydus.co.uk/ or email Clickandcollect@slough.gov.uk

You can also telephone.

People can use the link or email to let staff us know what sort of books they like – enabling staff to prepare up to 10 suitable books which they have in stock, in paperback, hardback or large print.

The books will then be put in a bag with a sticker that has the customer's name on. The customer will then be called or emailed with a date and a timeslot for them or a named person to come and pick them up.

The loan period has been extended to 12 weeks and their will be no fines for the moment.

Returned books can be placed in a container at the front of the library.

Libraries will still offer events and activities on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with e-resources to download books and the BorrowBox app to browse, borrow and read or listen to ebooks and audio books.

You can also get free courses, tutorials and language courses from online reference library https://www.slough.gov.uk/libraries/

There is also a library app available to download the Spydus mobile app and select Slough Libraries and Culture.

*Britwell Community Hub is also open now and customers must book an appointment if they want to see a service advisor for help with housing benefit or services, council tax, school admissions or other matters. Call the centre on 01753 475111 - it is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Wednesday, 10am to 5pm Thursday, 9am to 4.45pm Friday.
