Supermarkets across the UK have adapted a range of new rules over recent months as they try and deal with the extra demand brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
As the nation looks to get the economy back on track, supermarkets are also easing their own rules, including some dropping the key worker priority hours.
This had been a key measure introduced for key workers and vulnerable customers who might otherwise have found it difficult to get their usual shopping done – and ensure those most in need were not struggling to buy essential items.
However, as the UK lockdown is being eased and a ‘new normal’ appears to be setting in, with pubs, restaurants and bars reopening, some supermarkets are extending their opening hours now that social rules are changing, giving customers more time to pick up their groceries.
Sainsbury’s, Asda and Iceland are the first to make changes to get back to normal by scrapping the priority slots.
Check supermarket websites for opening times.
