A FORMER clinic could be converted into flats if new plans are approved.

Newton House, on Newton Way in Baildon, has most recently been used as a clinic and day nursery, but the building been vacant for 18 months.

Now a planning application to create six one and two bedroom flats in the building has been submitted to Bradford Council by Trevor Hobday.

As well as the change of use of the building, parts of the building will be re-built and re-configured.

Homes can be built on builder's yard near Baildon Conservation Area

The application says: "The property now lies vacant and is deteriorating quite rapidly. Through a local estate agent, the applicant has made various attempts to secure a continuation of some form of activity from the premises but to no avail."

It says the flats will all be for rent, rather than put on the market.

The site is next to Ellis Yard - a builder's yard site that is also being redeveloped as housing.

A decision on the application is expected later this month.
