We asked our readers where they can’t wait to get a bite to eat again when restaurants open their doors after over three long months away.

1. L’al Churrasco, Ulverston

A popular venue on Market Street that sells a selection of Spanish, Portuguese and South Mediterranean tapas. Sadly, this is one place that won’t be open again from Saturday, as they don’t feel they can provide adequate social distancing measures, but their delivery service will remain in place and they will soon be taking orders online.

2. The Crown, Walney

This North Scale pub will be opening its doors again, however, and customers will be able to enjoy a meal there from next Monday. The Crown originally opened in 1865 and provides arguably the best pub grub in the Barrow area. It’s bound to be as busy as social distancing measures allow.

3. Hartley’s, Dalton

This small family-run restaurant is at the heart of the town in Market Street and offers ‘contemporary dining with a Mediterranean flair.’ Its pizzas and steak Rossini has proven to be among customers’ favourite dishes.

4. Thai at Review, Barrow

Thankfully for the people of Barrow, this renowned Thai restaurant on Nelson Street has continued its delivery service during the lockdown. However, they can’t wait for the chance to have a sit-down meal again at a place where they allow customers to bring their own alcohol.

5. The Farmers, Ulverston

Overlooking the Market Place, the Farmers started taking bookings for the weekend on Tuesday and there’s unlikely to be a spare table, given its popularity before lockdown. You can choose from a selection of freshly made meat and seafood specials and the mussels come highly recommended.

6. Izgara, Barrow

One of two Turkish restaurants in the town that receives rave reviews. This venue on Cavendish Street was another that provided a delivery service during lockdown, but is sadly closed until further notice, meaning punters will have to wait to sample their grills again.

7. Salvanas, Barrow

We stay on Cavendish Street for an Italian restaurant with a rich and varied menu that comes with a litany of specials. Always gives good value for money, but particularly during its ‘happy hours.’

8. The Sun Inn, Ulverston

The Sun Inn on Market Street is another excellent gastropub. It has been providing a delivery service for Sunday lunches during lockdown, but customers will be able to enjoy the dine-in experience from this weekend.

9. Kapadokya, Barrow

Situated near Barrow Market on Dalton Road, this Turkish restaurant is famed for its meat platters, but it also provides some excellent quality pizzas. The only place in town you can have a meal ‘in a cave.’

10. Amigos, Ulverston

We finish off back on Market Street with this small yet extremely popular Mexican restaurant that is biding its time before deciding if it’s safe to reopen.
