A man arrested in Bradford city centre armed with four knives and four razor blades is behind bars being assessed on the danger he poses to the public.

Ali Rahimi pleaded guilty to five weapons offences when he appeared before Bradford Crown Court today on a video link to Leeds Prison.

Rahimi, 36, of Great Horton Road, Bradford, admitted having an offensive weapon, a flick knife, in Morley Street on June 22 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to four offences of having an article with a blade or point, namely three knives and four razor blades.

Rahimi, who was assisted by a Kurdish Sorani interpreter, faced a maximum four-year jail sentence, prosecutor Syam Soni told the court.

Judge Jonathan Rose adjourned sentence until July 23 for a report from the probation service.

“He’s walking the street with an armoury of knives,” he said. “I want to know how dangerous he is.”

Judge Rose said the probation officer should find out why Rahimi was carrying the weapons and why he was aggressive and violent at the police station.

Rahimi, who kept standing up during the hearing, shouted: “You are the dangerous ones.”

He was remanded back into custody until the date of his sentence.
