A man has appeared at Bradford Crown Court charged with the Section 18 wounding of two police officers in the city.

Corbin Samuels, 28, of The Grove, Idle, is accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding PC Matthew Johnson and PC Bradley Smith with intent to resist or prevent his lawful apprehension in Idle on May 20.

He is also charged with importing a prohibited weapon, namely a Bruni Mod blank firing pistol, on May 8.

Samuels appeared at West Yorkshire Magistrates’ Court in Leeds on May 22 and was sent in custody to Bradford Crown Court. He was today before the court on a video link to Leeds Prison.

Samuels, wearing a pale blue round-necked top, was not arraigned on any of the charges.

His barrister, Glenn Parsons, said a doctor was preparing a report to look into his health.

A trial, lasting up to five days, was fixed for March 15 next year.

Samuels was remanded back into custody by Judge Jonathan Rose.
