Travel limits on concessionary bus passes, which were lifted when lockdown restrictions started in March, are to be reinstated on Monday (June 15) in line with the latest Government Guidance on the coronavirus.

Normally the county's 72,000 concessionary pass holders can travel in Buckinghamshire on weekdays from 9am to 11.59pm, and all day at weekends.

These travel time limits were lifted by Buckinghamshire Council on March 23 to allow older and more vulnerable passengers to take advantage of early opening times at shops and other essential services before 9am.

Now, with easing of lockdown rules, increases in peak time passenger numbers are expected to continue, especially when shops reopen and as more people start travelling back to work.

David Martin, Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Logistics, said: "I really do hope the relaxation of travel limits helped our older and more vulnerable residents with their essential shopping, but now we need to do our best to manage passenger numbers at peak times and help the bus companies maintain social distancing on their buses."
