A BRADFORD pub has announced it is set to open at the start of July.

The Alexandra, in Idle, revealed on its Facebook page that it is planning to open on Saturday, July 4 - just a month away.

There will be a number of safety measures put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The pub's Facebook post said: "In line with Government information, and if Boris doesn't make any changes to the current guidelines, we will be re-opening our doors on Saturday 4th July, with a Covid19 safe environment and a limited amount of people."

There will be an outdoor seating area, hand sanitiser stations and a two-metre distance rule at all times.

The pub also announced there will be screening around the bar area, a one-in-one-out policy for toilets and personal protective equipment available.

It will have limited opening hours (10am-7pm) and only reward card holders will be able to get in.

The Alexandra has said people can get in touch on Facebook to arrange for a rewards card to be sorted.

Manager, Bev Clarkson, its looking forward to getting going again, but has made it clear the date could change.

She said: "There have been a number of questions around when the hospitality sector will be allowed to re-open so that people can start to enjoy some sort of normality.

"We are incredibly excited about the prospect of re-opening on July 4, but also fully understand that this is subject to a final government decision and the need for enhanced hygiene measures to provide the best level of protection we can for our customers.

"We have decided to make preparations ahead of July 4 so that in the event the government announces a partial re-opening of the sector we are prepared to open our doors and give our customers the best and safest drinking experience we can.

"This is a bit of a moving target but hopefully with the progress that has been made, July 4, will have a new significance in the UK."
