LATEST: Queues building at McDonald's Drive-Thrus in Bradford but this store has its system locked down

TRAFFIC jams built on a main road in Keighley yesterday, with reports McDonald's had to close due to the chaos.

Members of the public complained about large queues both ways on Hard Ings Road, in Keighley, all day on Wednesday, June 3.

The McDonald's store, in a small retail park just off the main road, reopened its lanes for cars today, as part of the fast-food chain's phased reopening of all its Drive-Thrus across the UK.

It seems motorists flocked to the Keighley store right from the word go, at 11am, with people caught in the traffic saying queues from the McDonald's Drive-Thru stretched right onto Hall Ings Road.

The situation was made worse by the ongoing roadworks on the A629 Keighley bypass.

Richard Wilson shared a photo of the queues and said: "Wow are these people for real.

"Roads in Keighley jammed for McDonald’s - are people that desperate for a cheeseburger."

One motorist posted in a community group at around 4.18pm to say traffic had reached such chaotic levels that police had to step in and close the McDonald's to get on top of the situation.

The AA's traffic page showed there was still heavy congestion on Hard Ings Road at 5.51pm.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers attended to help deal with traffic.
