NHS staff receiving welcome donations of food prepared in Slough's Hindu temple have been cheered even further by inspiring messages penned by the town's children.

Rahul Deolia from the Sewa Day charity which prepares and delivers hot meals to frontline NHS staff at Wexham Park and other hospitals, explained: “It happened when I was struggling to come up with inspiring messages and my children Dhruv, 15 and Bhumi, 10, had completed their home schooling work and were looking for something else to do.

“I thought it would keep them busy for another hour or so while I tried to do my work.

“What happened next made my day. Within half an hour I had about 20 inspiring messages to choose from. Some of them brought a tear to my eye when I first saw them, particularly in the context of the Covid-19 situation the NHS staff would face on a daily basis."

Messages such as 'when I think of angels I think of you” and 'there’s no need to change a masterpiece - YOU!' are just a couple of examples of what now accompanies the food packet labels for the cooked meals Sewa Day have been delivering to NHS heroes.

Community volunteers from the Sewa Day charity prepare the food using the kitchens made available to them by the Hindu temple in Keel Drive.
