A FIRE at a popular riverside walk in York is thought to have been started deliberately.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to Clifton Ings alongside the river Ouse at 9.37am yesterday.
On arrival they found a large fire in the open meadow after a pile of wood had been set alight.
A spokesman said: "The cause is believed to be deliberate. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire."
