THE launch of community radio station Keighley on Aire has been put on hold due to the coronavirus lockdown.

But there's a chance to meet the team on Sunday June 7 during a special event using the online chat platform Zoom.

After an introduction to the DJs at 7pm there will be a prize music quiz hosted by Ben Baker, regular quiz master at the Exchange Arts Centre.

Ben is going to be one of the presenters when Keighley on Air takes to the internet, hosting a 2pm show every Monday.

He will take listeners on a joy ride through some the mystic melodies created in Keighley, exploring the music of "up-and-coming greats" of the town and other "must-listen-to" bands.

The team also includes DJ 6-5000, a veteran broadcaster who each Friday at 6pm will present a trip down memory lane with some interesting facts and brilliant music.

Keighley Area being supported by regeneration group, Keighley Big Local, whose coordinator Shaun O'Hare described it as a really exciting project.

He added: "It is fuelled by the enthusiasm of local folk who are creating a radio station and a valuable community resource. We hope people take up the offer to meet the team and take part in a music quiz packed with prizes.

Keighley on Aire is funded by Keighley CLLD and Keighley Big Local in partnership with Keighley College and Jam on Top recording studios.
