A dentist has been delivering essential items to food banks, homeless shelters, hospitals and care homes to ensure those in need are fed and protected.
Dr Harshini Pindolia, 28, decided to deliver food after her colleague phoned her to say 'the shops were empty.'
Knowing her colleague was unable to find food before her next shift, Harshini knew that something had to be done, so set up a fundraising page with the original target being £250.
However, Harshini's fundraiser proved a hit and it wasn't long before funds increased to more than £9000 to help provide food to those in need, which is when she extended her fundraiser to PPE.
The 28-year-old has successfully delivered food and protective equipment to; The Royal Marsden, St. George’s Hospital, Queen Mary's, Wimbledon Beaumont Care Home, Belmont House Nursing home and Merton Action.
Devoted Harshini has since moved out of her family home to keep her diabetic father protected.
Dr Harshini Pindolia, of Guys and St Thomas's Hospital, said: "I am dedicated to reaching the hearts of as many people as possible.
"I am working around the clock to ensure people receive PPE and food, seven days a week.
"If you could see the smiles on my colleague's faces as we come back to work to face another day, the compassion in our hearts as we help our patients to recover.
"The gratitude in the recipient's eyes as I hand them a meal, you too would do the same.
Speaking on how the pandemic has affected key workers, Dr Harshini Pindolia, added: "I have received messages from care homes, saying they have covid patients and have had to re-use masks for a week.
"I have seen all the pressures hospital staff are facing and workers putting in extra shifts to cope with the high volumes of patient’s.
"As more and more of my colleagues become sick every day, we come to work every day, with fewer members of staff and a new story of a loved one who is infected with the virus.
"Healthcare professionals are going above and beyond their call of duty during this pandemic.
"My hospital shifts now involve seeing a high volume of patients who have nowhere else to go when they have any dental emergency.
"At a time like this, I feel that with my work and the work I have seen others do, has been a true testimony to humanity.
"I hope this inspires others to do what I am doing in thier areas."
