Former Wilmslow Prep pupils on the frontline in coronavirus fight

Twins Jayana Patel and Nisha Lister completed their primary education at Wilmslow Prep in 2004.

They continued their secondary education at Withington Girls School. Anita Patel, who is three years younger, also attended the Prep and moved to Withington along with her older sisters in 2004.

Jayana is working in the Covid-19 ward at North Middlesex Hospital in London. Before the pandemic, Jayana worked in acute medicine as a Foundation 2 Doctor.

Nisha, who lives locally, works at Macclesfield General Hospital as a Foundation 1 Doctor. She was deployed onto the Covid-19 ward in Macclesfield but is now back to her regular duties in surgery.

Anita, the youngest of the three sisters, is working on the Covid-19 wards of Royal United Hospital in Bath. She, too, is a Foundation 1 Doctor, and continues to support those who are fighting the virus.

Helen Rigby, headteacher at Wilmslow Prep School said: “Jayana, Nisha and Anita are shining examples and role models for our younger generation.

“Everyone at Wilmslow Prep and beyond are proud of these fantastic women, and all of their NHS colleagues, for working on the front lines to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

“Our thoughts are with the girls, their families and all the key workers who are the real heroes and we wish them well.”

Many other members of the Wilmslow Prep School family have also been doing their part during this crisis.

Music teacher Mrs Wolski and her daughter are supporting a campaign called ‘Hearts for Hospitals’ to spread some love by knitting hearts for patients and their relatives.

Staff members Enid Colyer and Jill Sparrow are making homemade scrubs for NHS workers, and pupils from the school have been creating beautiful artwork to hang on the walls of local hospitals.
