India has banned all international flights from landing in the country for one week starting 22 March.
India has already suspended visas for the vast majority of foreigners seeking to enter the country.
Four people have died from COVID-19 according to the ministry.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged the country's citizens to stay indoors to protect themselves from coronavirus.
He called for a curfew on March 22 between the hours of 7 am and 9 pm, saying no citizen, barring those in essential services, should leave their homes.
