There was no shortage of wedding inspiration at this year’s AWE2020 Wedding Showcase for couples planning their wedding this year and next.
The annual event, at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel on Sunday 23 February showcased over 70 of the UK's leading Asian wedding experts and businesses.
The catwalk saw seven of the UKs leading wedding designers announce their collections.
These included Aisha Naheed, Virsa Menswear, Alankar, Maryam Fasial Bridal Studio, Sai Fashions, Hamail Official and Bombay Stores.

The colours palates displayed on the fashion show were subtle peaches, golds and muted earth tones, alongside the more customary Asian wedding red. The makeup colours reflected the on stage look with soft pastels and dewy hues, with stronger more daring makeup for evening receptions. The décor themes included regal reds and golds from Simplicity Events, to vintage and a throwback to the traditional.
Juel Khan, MD of Simplicity Events and one of the event organisers. said, “The AWE showcase has for a long time been an anticipated event by both wedding businesses and couples planning their weddings. For business it’s a place to showcase their skills and services. And for the couples planning their wedding its takes the stress out of planning a wedding by bringing key suppliers together all under one roof.”
The ranges of businesses included award winning photographers, cake makers, toastmasters, caterers, stage decorators, venue dressers, car hire companies showcasing exclusive wedding services and products including a gold embossed wedding story book from Monir Ali Photography and a 20ft digital screen from Supreme Dream Events.

Monir said, “Having these great suppliers in one place at the same time makes the lives of the couples so much easier, and being on one level means that guests had a more fluid experience.”
The showcase was a visual spectacle from the moment you arrived at the venue with a fleet of wedding cars outside the Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel, to the free drink’s reception, floral wall backdrops, food tasting, wedding photography gallery and not forgetting the dazzling wedding catwalk.
Iram Ali Khan, MD of Supreme Dream Events and co-event organiser said, “The fashion show hosted by Monika Plaha, was elegant and just wowed the guests and our Make-Up & Hair partner for the catwalk, Zaiba Khan Training Academy, ensured the models make-up and hair was flawless.
Isobel Reade the Assistant Conference & Banqueting Operations Manager from The Hilton Manchester Deansgate Hotel. added , “This is the third year we have hosted and partnered with the AWE showcase, and each year we have seen it grow bigger and draw an amazing list of exceptional suppliers.”
