A TEENAGER is through to the semi-final of a TV talent contest after wowing viewers.
Rhythmic gymnast Hannah Martin danced her way into the penultimate episode of BBC One’s The Greatest Dancer on Saturday night.

The 17-year-old from Burgess Hill is now one of the programme’s last seven acts.
The dancers were asked to blend styles of dance in the “dance fusion week”.

Hannah performed a Latin dance in heels,  despite having never worn such footwear before.

Cheryl Tweedy, who is a judge on the show, said: “I think you possibly had one of the most difficult challenges of the night to be fair to you, Hannah.

“Because you are through-and-through a gymnast, contemporary mover – hip action.

“And you are a very nice girl to be doing if that makes sense, very nice and very polite, always put together, always please and thank you and you have got heels on which I know you don’t every wear right?”

“I’ve never worn heels in my life,” Hannah replied, to cheers from the audience.

Cheryl added: “When you’re in heels your pelvis shifts, everything tips. So not only have you had to contend with Latin being a very nice girl but you’ve also had to contend with shoes.

“With everything that you’ve had thrown at you, I think you have done really well.”

Hosts Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo and dance captains Cheryl, Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse were all impressed with Hannah’s moves.

And she received a 81.3 per cent “audience score”.

Following a public vote, contemporary group Vale were eliminated.

The dance talent show sees dancers of any age and dance style compete against each other for public votes to stay in the competition.

Ex-Shoreham Academy student Hannah is now in with a chance to win £50,000 – and perform on Strictly Come Dancing.

Home-schooled Hannah competed for England as a gymnast in the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

The Greatest Dancer airs every Saturday night on BBC One.

Next Saturday will be the semi-final and the winner will be crowned the week after.
