Anyone interested in community interpreting work in a voluntary or paid capacity can register for a free course with IMO. 

The Award is suitable for students who wish to gain knowledge and skills of community interpreting including the role of codes of practice, learn about the settings where interpreters may be required to work, and are not yet ready to study at Level 3 or do not feel ready or able to commit to a longer qualification.

The course aims to prepare people for working or volunteering as a community interpreter.

You will need to talk to a member of staff and do a short activity to make sure the course is right for you. Students need a Level 1 qualification in English to join this course.

You should have an interest in working with different linguistic groups in the community you should be a confident speaker of English and be fluent in at least one other language.
