An man had to be rescued by firefighters after falling metres down a bank and injuring himself.

Bemused residents wondered why fire crews with a huge turntable ladder and spotlights descended on Brecon Way in High Wycombe on Sunday evening.

Bucks Fire and Rescue has now revealed they were called to help South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) rescue a man who had injured himself around four metres down a steep bank.

Firefighters from High Wycombe, along with an aerial appliance and crew from the town's fire station were called just after 6.30pm on January 19.

They used the turntable ladder to rescue the man, who was then passed into the care of SCAS for treatment.
