SPECIALIST transport company, Collett & Sons Ltd, has expanded, in a £2.5 million property deal, taking on 76,000 sq ft of warehousing and office space to create a new depot in Bradford.

The 2.32 acre site at Low Moor is less than two miles from junction 26 of the M62, giving the firm easy access to the motorway network.

With storage facilities already offered at the firm's Halifax, Goole and Grangemouth depots, the acquisition of the Bradford site provides an additional 7,000m2 secure indoor warehousing.

The deal, brokered by property consultants Walker Singleton, involves three industrial units situated at Carr Lane and Spartan Road.

The units are already part-let to Styrene Packaging and Insulation and Tailormade Design Ltd.

A vacant unit of 32,7000 sq ft will now be occupied by Collett & Sons, who are experts in abnormal load heavy transport

This additional 6.5m high facility allows Collett to further expand their warehousing and storage facilities, with the new depot able to accommodate long and short term storage requirements.

It is also furnished with cargo lift and handling equipment for loads up to 12,000kgs.

The acquisition of the site adds to Collett’s existing five acres of indoor and outdoor storage at their head office in Halifax, 12 acres at their Goole heavy lift facility and their three acre port-side Grangemouth site in Scotland.

Jonathan O’Connor, director at Walker Singleton, added: “This was an excellent deal, which suited both parties perfectly. M&B were keen to sell and Collett Transport were looking for a new depot in West Yorkshire. Collett will also benefit from two established tenants with strong covenants.

“Walker Singleton have had a long history of involvement in this site, which was originally bought by M&B 18 years ago. We successfully advised on the letting to Styrene and also on the lease renewal for Tailormade.

“Low Moor is an established and popular industrial property location in West Yorkshire, just three miles south of Bradford city centre and less than two miles from J26 of the M62 (junction with M606). Its position so close to Yorkshire’s superb motorway network is a massive selling point.

“This deal also underlined the strength of the industrial property market in West Yorkshire, which we expect to prosper this year, especially in light of the new political stability. There is a good deal of demand for investments of this nature in the current market and we anticipate a busy and successful year.”

Collett & Sons bills itself as "Experts in Motion since 1928" and has plenty of experience transporting difficult and abnormal loads throughout the UK, Europe and worldwide.

They are recognised globally as industry-leading multi-modal heavy lift specialists.
