FARNWORTH Post Office is set to move into a nearby newsagents after months of speculation.

The branch has recently been closed to customers due to a lack of staff while a consultation was conducted into plans for the future.

Now, national bosses have confirmed to The Bolton News that the services provided by the store will be moving to nearby Zam Zam News, also in Brackley Street.

The switch is set to take place in the coming weeks with the new Post Office opening on Wednesday, February 5, at 1pm.

Lesley McNally, Post Office Area Change Manager said: “We apologise for the unplanned temporary closure of this branch. We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are delighted to soon be restoring Post Office service to the area.”

The decision to move the branch came as the current building was no longer going to be available for the Post Office to use.

The branch, at 52A Brackley Street, Farnworth, has been temporarily closed since January 4.

Customers have been advised that until Farnworth Post Office re-opens alternative branches in the area include:

• New Bury Post Office, 61 George Street, Farnworth, Bolton.

• Highfield Road Post Office, 237 Highfield Road, Farnworth, Bolton.

When the Farnworth branch re-opens at its new location, the opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 9am – 5.30pm; Saturday: 9am – 3.30pm.
