A DISQUALIFIED driver caught behind the wheel of a car after taking cocaine has been jailed.

Christopher Gary Sims, of Lansdowne Gardens in Bournemouth, was arrested after he drove a Citroen Picasso in Christchurch Road on June 18.

He had already been banned from the road.

In addition, Sims, 42, had 37 micrograms of cocaine and not less than 621 micrograms of cocaine's main derivative, benzoylecgonine, per litre of his blood.

The limits are ten micrograms and 50 micrograms, respectively.

He appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to admit two counts of drug driving, one of driving while disqualified and one of driving without insurance.

Magistrates jailed him for a total of 120 days after telling the defendant he has "numerous like convictions and a disregard for court orders".

Sims was also banned once again for three years and 60 days.
