An alleged far-right extremist has appeared in court accused of having explosives and a collection of instructions on how to make improvised explosive devices.

Polish national Filip Golon Bednarczyk, 25, of Luton in Bedfordshire, was arrested by detectives from the Metropolitan Police's counter-terrorism unit on December 11.

He faces seven charges of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, and possessing an explosive under suspicious circumstances.

Bednarczyk appeared at the Old Bailey by video link from custody at Bullingdon jail on Friday.

He spoke to confirm his identity and Polish nationality before a timetable for the case was set.

Mr Justice Sweeney set a plea hearing for April 3 and a provisional three-week trial to start on June 15.

The defendant was remanded into custody until his next hearing at the same court.
