DRIVERS are being warned about new cameras on two bus only lanes in Burnley and Accrington which will help public transport in the towns.
From Monday, King Street in Accrington and Church Street in Burnley will be enforced by cameras and motorists of unauthorised vehicles and they will receive a £60 penalty if they use the bus lane.
The aim is to help public transport by ensuring that bus lanes are kept clear, and stopping misuse.
The bus lane, which has been in place for some time, will be enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
County Cllr Keith Iddon, Cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "Bus-only sections are important as they help people to get around and help to keep public transport moving. These PCNs help to discourage misuse. We know that this is a shortcut for cars and other vehicles, when it should only be used by buses. We're happy if we don't make a penny from this, as it means that people are doing the right thing."
