SALTAIRE Festival has been given more than £3,000 by the Co-op.

The festival team said they were thrilled to receive the donation of £3,534.67 which was funded by Co-op members.

John Henkel, the finance lead for Saltaire Festival, said he was amazed by this year’s Co-op donation. He said: “This is the first time we have been part of the Local Community Fund and have run a specific campaign to encourage residents to become Co-op members and choose the Festival as their good cause.

"The local Co-op is part and parcel of the community in Saltaire so it’s great to see that residents and visitors are shopping there and supporting the Festival in doing so.”

The donation will help to support the 2020 Festival which will take place from September 11 to 20.

Every time members shop at the Co-op, 1% of what they spend on selected own-branded products and services goes to help fund community projects through the Co-op Local Community Fund.

Co-op members choose which cause their 1% goes to and the Co-op also gives all money raised from shopping bag sales to the good causes, to help even more.

The Festival team undertook a social media campaign in the run-up to this year’s festival to encourage residents to become Co-op members and to choose the festival as their good cause.
