Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admits he'd rather be a tracksuit manager than wear shirt and tie on the sidelines.

The Ibrox club's representatives have worn suits on match days as tradition for a number of years.

A tradition Gerrard has respected since he took over last year.

Managerial greats such as Walter Smith and Graeme Souness have also donned the smartwear during their respective tenure.

But Gerrard says he'd prefer to be comfortable in less formal wear - though he'll continue to honour the club's wishes for now.

Speaking on BT Sport's What I Wore segment, Gerrard said: "At Rangers there's a tradition that you have to wear a suit.

"I'm not sure it would necessarily be my choice because I like being comfortable in a tracksuit.

"We'll have to see moving forward what we decide, but with Rangers they like their manager to be in a suit.

"The club is a very traditional club and they like you to look smart and classy, that's the reason I wear a suit on the side."

Gerrard also explained how he continues to learn on the job as a manager in Glasgow - though he's loving life in the Rangers hotseat.

He added: "I'm enjoying it, the transition, you have to adapt. You're not going to be a good manager just because you've worn all these kits and been a player.

"You have to go back to the beginning, learn and do your badges, study the game from a different aspect.

"It's something I'm learning on the job and I'm really enjoying the gig."
