Police were called out to a crash this morning and found that the driver was five times over the drink-drive limit.
The incident happened in the early hours at the junction on A666 and Turton Street.
Pictures posted by police showed significant damage to the front of the vehicle.
Police further advised people to "drive carefully on icy roads".
A tweet from GMP Bolton North read: "No time for a brew today. Straight out to an RTC at the jct A666 & Turton St. Please drive carefully on icy roads.
"Although being nearly 5 times over the drink drive limit was probably a factor.
