A SUSPECTED drug dealer was arrested after a standoff with armed police on Friday night.

Firearms officers descended on a property on Hillock Lane in Woolston at around 10.30pm on November 22.

Cheshire Police attended the address in connection with reports of a disturbance at a house on Rendlesham Close in Gorse Covert shortly after 6pm the same day.

Armed units were deployed to the scene over allegations that the suspect was carrying a number of weapons.

Police safely negotiated with the man to give himself up to officers, after which he was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

The 41-year-old male has since been released on conditional bail pending further investigations.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of threatening behaviour, malicious communications and harassment.

She remains in police custody this afternoon.
