TWO casualties were rushed to hospital after a crash closed the M56 this morning.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident on the westbound carriageway between junction 10 at Stretton and junction 11 at Daresbury shortly before 7am.
Four fire engines attended the scene and worked to free a woman who was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
She was handed into the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital, as was a man who was also involved in the crash.
The road reopened at around 8.30am, with further lane closures lifted shortly before 9.30am.
Firefighters spent more than an hour on the scene.
