METROLINK has announced new fares for Greater Manchester- which includes price freezes and rises.
The cost of all single journeys are frozen at 2019 prizes, while new ticket offers will give early risers and part-time workers cheaper travel.
The changes, if approved, will see around 45% of tickets prices frozen with around 50% increasing by 4% or less. The rest would rise by the minimum of 10p.
Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, said: “Metrolink is a world-class system entirely owned, managed and run at a local level, and that is why we are able to be responsive to the needs of the travelling public in Greater Manchester.
“We recognise that the cost of travelling is a concern for many people, and that we need to deliver a transport system that is both affordable and fit for purpose.”
The early bird ticket will be for those paying with contactless, while a new ‘carnet-style’- ticket will offer less frequent travellers cheaper, more flexible travel choices.
