A TEAM at a care home were ‘overwhelmed’ when a family delivered them a cake as a thank you present.

Strathmore Nursing Home looked after Michael Naughton, who passed away aged 85 on Monday, November 18.

Michael had suffered from Parkinson’s disease and dementia, which had led him to being placed in the home around six months ago, following a short stay at hospital.

Grace Naughton, Michael’s granddaughter, said: “A handful of times the staff got him up, changed and sat him into a chair, which was a massive deal for us. The staff showed real care and love with him. They treated him like he was family.”

Karen Prescott, Manager at the home, said: “The cake was amazing and we were so appreciative. I don’t know how to put it in words.”
