AN appeal has been launched following a hit and run in Galashiels.

The incident happened on the A7 at High Buckholmside at around 7.40pm on Friday.

A pedestrian was almost hit and a parked vehicle was damaged.

Now an appeal has been launched to trace the car.

Police say they are looking for a small dark grey metallic coloured Ford, after investigating debris from the scene.

A spokesperson said: "This collision could have easily resulted in the pedestrian sustaining significant injury, yet the driver failed to stop, check on their wellbeing or indeed provide their details.

"We would urge other motorists who were in the area of the A7 High Buckholmside at that time and witnessed what happened, or can help us identify the motorist and vehicle involved, to contact police immediately.

"In particular, if you believe you have any relevant dash-cam footage of this incident, then please get in touch."
