THE RSPCA is desperately seeking a new home for a loving mother and son dog whose owner died.

Majika and Moisheka have been at the charity’s West Hatch Animal Centre since August.

They were taken in under the RSPCA Home for Life scheme, which pledges to care for animals whose owners have passed away and try to find a loving home for them.

Five-year-old Majika and Moisheka, eight, are closely bonded and have a lovely relationship together, so will need to find a home as a pair.

Their new home will need a large, secure garden, ideally in a rural location as they need plenty of opportunities to exercise.

Their new owner would ideally have experience of large dogs and the pair could live with children of secondary school age or older.

Majika and Moisheka are house trained and travel well and both have a wonderfully gentle nature.

But they will need further training to learn that it is okay to be left alone for short periods of time.

RSPCA pet welfare specialist Jane Tyson described them as bright sparks who will benefit from an owner who can continue with their training and offer them plenty of time, patience and enrichment.

She added: “Looking after a pet means loving and caring for them for life, and it can also mean making plans for them in the event of our death, like Majika and Moisheka’s owner sensibly did.

“Just as things like moving house can be stressful for us, going to a new home can also be stressful for our pets.

“However, we work very hard to make sure animals find an owner who suits them and are on hand to help with advice and support.

“One of the best parts of working for the RSPCA is knowing an animal has been rehomed and seeing the joy they bring into their new owner’s life.”

If you think you can give Majika and Moisheka a loving home, contact RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre on 0300-1230747 or whdomcen@rspca.org.uk Under the Home for Life scheme, animals which outlive their owners will be looked after by the RSPCA in a centre or by foster carers until a perfect new home can be found for them.
