Diwali and Hindu New year celebrations at Gujarat Hindu Society
The festival of Diwali was celebrated by members of Gujarat Hindu Society in Preston.
Over 500 people came together to witness a fireworks display which lasted more than half an hour and later attended the temple to see the rangoli competition boards prepared by young people.
On the Hindu New Year day early morning prayers took place and and at lunch time Annkut Prashad (Festival food prepared by devotees) was offered to the deities which was consumed by the devotees in the evening as blessed food.
Special guests included John Gilmore from BBC Radio Lancashire and Helen Wright, Head teacher of St Stephen’s school.
