A SUPERMARKET’S roof was damaged when a stack of cardboard was deliberately set on fire.
The recyclable waste had been left outside the story by staff at the Asda store in Town Gate, Wyke, but was torched in the early hours of this morning and also damaged a security camera.
Firefighters from Odsal were called out to deal with the blaze at 1.30am on Friday and said a section of the roof was damaged by the flames.
Detective Inspector Mark Taylor, said: “This may have been just a prank to someone, but it was a reckless act which could have led to something more serious.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time stated to call us if they can assist our investigation."
