Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse...things actually get better!

We have finally seen someone with some common sense.

This all has to do with a set of cones on Barbara Castle Way in Blackburn which were placed on the dual carriageway. There are some roadworks going on here that seem to be taking a lot longer than they actually should.

The problem with small town folk like us is that we don’t like even minor traffic issues. It really annoys us and I know now something like this would be laughed at by my fellow countrymen in say, London.

But these cones had clearly been placed in such a way to frustrate drivers. It was bad enough having to queue here but was this some sort of sick joke?

I had been avoiding this stretch of road for a while but the weekend before last I was forced to go down this route.

I had sat there helpless as I headed from Preston New Road towards Victoria Street.

I thought to myself, ‘if we simply removed the final few cones it would ease congestion as it would allow traffic to merge on to the second lane’. This would in effect ease congestion quite a lot as then the back end of the queue would not be at the other lights near Preston New Road. Does that make sense?

I would honestly buy the bloke in charge a pint and a curry if he simply moved these cones.

Was I permitted to move the cones myself in the name of common sense?

The thing with us Brits is that we like to go through the pain because we think we are suffering for the greater good. Much like Brexit we go through these frustrations hoping that when all is said and done everything will be fine.

But it isn’t like that at all. Having gone through weeks and months of anguish it will all be for nothing.

Even worse they left this whole stretch of road cordoned off over the weekend when no work was taking place. Yes, I kid you not. Everyone deserves the weekend off but then again….no…if there is no work going on just open up the road. Then, as if by magic someone seemed to read my mind and lo and behold this week the road was opened up.

I won’t forgive you for making us go through weeks unnecessary hardship but I can get some sleep now.
