ARMED robbers who carried out a string of raids treated themselves to a shopping spree at JD Sports in Bournemouth, a court heard last week.

Wayne Grant and Connor Davis covered their faces with scarves as they robbed two petrol stations and a betting shop during a two-day spree in September 2017.

During two of the raids, the pair used a knife and a baton to threaten staff members at the Hampshire stores to hand over cash.

They then went shopping, spending £400 at a Bournemouth branch of JD Sports and more at Gunwharf Quays.

Grant, 27 and of Byron Road, Southampton, was jailed for eight years, and Davis, 25, of no fixed address, was jailed for nine years during a sentencing hearing at Southampton Crown Court last week.

They had denied three counts of robbery each but were convicted following a trial.

Detective Constable Sean Owens, who was in charge of the investigation, said: “No matter how long it takes, we will always seek to get justice and ensure dangerous and greedy offenders like Grant and Davis are put before a court."
