A BINGLEY cocktail bar could expand if plans are given the go ahead.

99 & Main opened its doors on Main Street last year, bringing a touch of glamour to the town by serving up stylish drinks in luxurious art-deco surroundings.

Now owner Robert Dalewicz has lodged plans to expand the business into the unit next door.

The application says: "The lease on No.101 is coming to an end and Mr Dalewicz is wanting to expand the existing Bar at No. 99 and sees a vision of the whole building operating as a single bar.

"The extension of the existing wine bar business into No.101 will prevent this property becoming vacant at the end of the lease.

"We consider that the expansion of this existing well run and now well established business can only have a positive effect on the vitality of the area, showing that investment is being made which will hopefully have a knock on effect and encourage other small businesses to locate here."

It adds: "There have been no reported anti-social incidents while the business has been in operation and the client has a good relationship with the local police.

"The client intends to invest substantially with a full refurbishment and internal alteration of the property at No.101 to follow the theme of his existing business at No.99.

"The proposal is to continue a wine bar-style business which serves up drinks in the evening and coffee and cakes through the day and will also now offer hot food and snacks.

"The bar will be catering for couples and people 35 years plus offering entertainment, movie nights, etc at night and geared towards professionals during the day.

"Facilities include internet access, USB ports and daily papers to create an environment suitable for a small business chat/meeting.

"It is felt the existing bar provides a useful benefit to the area and community. In the evening the bar will have music and occasionally live music with vintage movies playing in the background."

The application says the proposed opening times will be 8.30am until midnight on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and 8.30am to 1.30am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

It says: "The wine bar/ coffee bar will also be open Sundays to increase a Sunday trade.

"It is expected staffing will be increased by one full time and two part-time employees.

"A priority for staffing would be given to people from the Bingley area provided they reach the criteria for the job."
