HUNDREDS of fundraisers took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for a hospital charity.

Charity supporters, including members of hospital trust staff, walked about eight miles of Morecambe Bay sands in glorious sunshine, from Arnside to Kent’s Bank, recently.

The group was led by the newly appointed Queen’s official guide, Michael Wilson.

All money raised went to ELHT&Me, East Lancashire Hospitals Trust's official charity.

Denise Gee, fundraising manager for ELHT&Me, said: “We were delighted to see our supporters at the walk on Saturday, and the amazing community spirit – the atmosphere was fantastic!”

“The charity hopes to hold a similar event next year, but before then we will be hosting a range of fundraising events! You can follow the charity @ELHTandMe on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or visit our website (www.elht.nhs.uk/charity) to keep up to date."

One walker said: “There’s been a fantastic turn out today and a great atmosphere, plus beautiful weather. We’re so glad we completed the walk and would highly recommend taking part next year."
