LEADER disbands parliament to make decision making easier...Spearhead stops listening to his constituents to take forward his own decisions...Key political front-runners disposed of for disagreeing. Ring any bells?

These are issues explored in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, on at Bradford Playhouse next week.“Never have the themes of Orwell’s 1945 novel been so relevant to British politics,” says Joseph Burke, director of Drama Unlimited’s thought-provoking production. Originally set in a farmyard, reflecting the characters and themes of the Russian revolution as Communism set in, the play is paralleled in this production to modern politics, and asks: Have we, as a society, come full circle?

“This is a great production. Audiences aren’t expected to leave clapping and smiling but questioning the frightening prospect of the future,” says Joseph. “If you’re not afraid to be challenged and questioned, this is the production for you.

Drama Unlimited works with community casts to produce quality, hard-hitting dramas. Recent productions include Andrea Dunbar’s Rita, Sue and Bob Too, Joe Ortons Loot and Alan Bennet’s Lady in the Van.
