A MAN was rescued from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Blackburn last night.
Emergency services were called to reports of a man in the water off Highfield Road at around 10.30pm.
Firefighters rescued the man in his 50s and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Crew manager Austin Foy, from Blackburn fire station, said: "One crew from Blackburn and another from Penwortham were called to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal off Highfield Road in Blackburn at around 10.30pm to reports of a man in the water.
"We used a triple extension ladder and water rescue equipment to rescue the man in his 50s.
"He was taken to hospital by ambulance."
